Totally Awesome Fishing Adventure

The Dr. Bill Shelton’s Totally Awesome Fishing Adventure is a fundraiser for the Indigent Cancer Fund at the Arthur Temple Sr. Regional Cancer Center.  All funds raised go to help those in need pay for items such as gas to and from treatment, medications and more.  The tournament is a 2-man team tournament with a 5-fish limit.  Registration is $200 per 1- or 2-man team.  Trailering is allowed.  Registration forms can be picked up at Memorial Health System, Tri-Lakes Tackle in Lufkin, Bass Strike Tackle in Zavalla, Loving Toyota Scion in Lufkin and the Arthur Temple Sr. Regional Cancer Center.

Details: As the nation observes Housing and Urban Development’s Neighborhood Network Week, Memorial Medical Center-Lufkin and Pinewood Park Apartments are hosting a free Community Health Fair.

The health fair is designed to educate participants about nutrition, diabetes self management, wound care, stroke, cardiovascular disease and women’s services. In addition to Memorial Homecare specialists, representatives from the Burke Center, DETCOG, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council and Health Horizons will be on hand to discuss health related topics.

Free blood pressure checks, refreshments, door prizes and promotional items will be offered to the community.

Pinewood Park Community Health Fair

Details: As the nation observes Housing and Urban Development’s Neighborhood Network Week, Memorial Health System of East Texas and Pinewood Park Apartments are hosting a free Community Health Fair:

The health fair is designed to educate participants on stroke, cardiovascular disease, home health services, long term care and infection control. In addition to Memorial health care specialists, representatives from the Burke Center, DETCOG, Lincare Home Medical, Grace Care Center, Southland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Heart to Heart Hospice and Advancing Home Healthcare, and the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council will be on hand to discuss health related topics.

Memorial also is providing free blood pressure screenings while Advancing Home Healthcare is offering free blood sugar evaluations. Refreshments, door prizes and promotional items will be offered to the community.
