Memorial Medical Center - Lufkin
A 271-bed acute care facility, Memorial Medical Center-Lufkin offers a wide array of services, including the area's first dedicated heart and stroke care center, The Cardiovascular & Stroke Center of East Texas; The Arthur Temple Sr. Regional Cancer Center, which has earned a three-year seal of approval with commendation from the Commission on Cancer; and the area's most advanced imaging centers, The Temple Imaging Center and The Kurth Imaging Center.
In 2009, Memorial opened East Texas' largest emergency room, which has 32 private patient rooms, a dedicated imaging and laboratory department and a highly qualified staff of emergency physicians, nurse practitioners and registered trauma nurses. With board certified neurologists and neurosurgeons on staff, and a telemedicine partnership with Houston's Methodist Hospital, Memorial Medical Center-Lufkin is the area's only Joint Commission Certified Primary Care Stroke Center and recently received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. Additionally, Memorial is a regional cardiovascular care center affiliated with the Methodist-DeBakey Heart Center in Houston. With designated cardiovascular surgical suites and catheterization labs, Memorial is the area leader in heart health, earning the Get With The Guidelines®–Heart Failure Gold Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association.
Also in 2009, Memorial opened a new 24-bed intensive care unit and 26-bed progressive care wing. These new units offer the latest in technology, patient safety and comfort. Plus, they are staffed by a highly qualified team of physicians and nurses who are consistently recognized nationally for excellence in patient care.
Other centers of excellence include the H.C. Polk Education Center for Stroke, Diabetes and Heart Care. Memorial enhances the lives of adults and children with its comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitiation centers. And when it comes to the birth of a new baby or pediatric care, the Henderson Women's and Children's Center offers the latest in technology and comfort. If a patient needs extended care, the Memorial Medical Center-Lufkin campus is home to Memorial Specialty Hospital, a separately licensed "hospital within a hospital" and the only rural long-term acute care facility in the area.
